William Thompson is a Belfast-based comedian. He has performed at some of the largest venues in Northern Ireland, such as the Waterfront Hall and the SSE Arena, supporting some of the biggest names in Northern Irish comedy, including Paddy McDonnell and Shane Todd. He will take his debut show to the Edinburgh Fringe in 2023 and later in the year will perform his first solo show at Belfast’s Ulster Hall.
In November 2021, William was the first Northern Irish comedian to perform in the BBC New Comedy Awards final.
William co-created, co-wrote and starred in William of Orangedale, a Channel 4 Comedy Blap. He and the Blap’s co-creator Dave Elliott were nominated for a New Voice Award for the script. William’s other credits include Rosie Jones’ Disability Comedy Extravaganza (UKTV Play) and BackChat (Dave).
He is the co-host of the Mudblood podcast with Paddy McDonnell which amassed over half a million downloads in under a year, and subsequently embarked on a sell-out live tour of the podcast.
