Leigh Douglas is a queer Irish stand-up comic and actor.
Her script, Queer Jig, was selected for the Female Writer’s Initiative by UKTV and Female Pilot Club and was long listed for the Funny Women Writing Award in 2022. Her first comedy short, You’re Alright Hun, which she wrote and starred in, premiered at the Kerry International Film Festival 2022 and has since been screened at FilmBath Shorts, New York City Short Comedy Festival, Los Angeles Queer Film Festival and the Women’s Comedy Film Festival in Atlanta amongst others. It won Best Comedy at the London Rocks Film Festival, and Best Student Short at the Dublin International Comedy Film Festival. You’re Alright Hun was made through the National Film and Television School Writing and Producing Comedy Diploma. She is developing Queer Jig and You’re Alright Hun for television.
Leigh trained as a very serious actor at The Gaiety School of Acting in Dublin. Her critically acclaimed one-woman show, Sacrament, developed with the support of Dublin Fringe Labs and Theatre Upstairs Dublin has been staged at Vault Festival 2020 and The King’s Head Theatre. She is now developing it in novel form with Niamh O’Grady at the Soho Agency where she is represented as an author. As an actor she is represented by The Galton Agency.
