Christine Murphy is a screenwriter and creative producer from Belfast. She started out in television as a script editor and has written for several TV series, including EMMERDALE, DOCTORS and EASTENDERS.
She is currently writing for the Britbox/BBC TV series HOPE STREET, which has sold globally. Her debut feature film CUP CAKE won the Audience Award at the Belfast Film Festival in 2010 and at festivals in the USA. In 2013, she won the Irish Writers’ Guild Zebbie Award for her debut BBC Radio 4 drama KICKING THE AIR starring Vicky McClure and Sophia Myles. Christine is an alumnus of the prestigious eQuinoxe Europe Programme and a TV Series Development Programme with the writers/producers of MAD MEN. In 2022, she was selected for the David Puttnam Creative Producing Masterclass and the WFTV Mentorship Scheme. Her mentor is Sharon Horgan.
She is currently developing three TV projects; an original series for C4 Drama with Fabel Productions, an original period crime drama series with two NI writers, and a returnable, period TV drama series based on some short stories by Frank O’Connor.
